Custom Spinning
We offer carding and spinning for a wide variety of raw fleece and animal hair. All yarn is
carded and spun to your individual requirements.

Finished hand spun dog and cat hair has a very different feel and properties than hand spun sheep or alpaca fleece. It is usually soft and fluffy and resembles Angora. This yarn is becoming better known as Cheingora. The softer, fluffier yarns come from dogs with two coats, such as the Samoyed and Husky breeds. Persian and Himalayan cats produce some of the softest yarns. hair from short hair dogs and cats is not usually suitable for spinning.
When the animal hair is received it will be washed and dried, all guard hairs will be removed and the hair sorted. The fibre will then be carded and blended with sheep fleece, if requested or required, and spun into yarn singles. Once all of the fibre is spun, two single strands are then plied together to form a 2 ply yarn. It is then wound into skeins, re-washed and dried and labelled with the final yardage and weight.

Sheep Fleece
We offer a service to spin your raw fleece or spin specially chosen raw fleece from our stock. When your raw fleece is received it will be sorted, washed and dried. The fibre will then be carded into batts and labelled with the final weight.
The fleece can also be carded and spun into wool. Once all of the fibre is spun, two single strands are then plied together to form a 2 ply yarn. It is then wound into skeins, re-washed and dried and labelled with the final yardage and weight.
